So, we have officially booked tickets for me and Little Man to visit the States in July/August!! Very exciting news. BUT, Little Man's Brazilian passport is only valid for one year and expires in March! Which means, I have had my second go-round with trying to capture an infant passport photo, a crazy impossible task. I had my first experience when he was only five weeks old--I took about 200 photos and the magical acceptable photo was the next to last one I took.
This time around, it was infinitely more difficult because he has mobility and more interesting things to look at than the camera. It doesn't help that the powers that be hold infant/toddler passport photos to the same standards as adult photos, i.e. must be looking at camera, with eyes open, mouth not open too much, both ears visible, no patterns or shadows behind, etc., etc. There also can't be any other people visible in the picture, so the one below with Hubby's hand securing the little guy in place was out. [FYI: I use a free online tool to make my own passport photos.]
I got a ton of "WTF" faces out of him. I know I look like a crazy person trying to get your attention, I don't need the judgment.
By the end, he was 100% sick of the paparazzi.
But I think we got one usable shot and we'll hopefully have his updated passport in the next couple months, and I think this next one will be valid for two years before he needs another update!
It's all for a good cause though so I'm glad you were able to get one you csn use.
ReplyDeleteI myself find the constant presence of the papparazi tiring as well, so he has my sympathy on that score :-P
